Fidelio in Munich
Matthew Polenzani returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper to star as Florestan in Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio, which was inspired by a French work entitled Léonore or Marital Loyalty by composer Pierre Gaveaux and librettist Jean Nicolas Bouilly. The performances, which take place on July 12, 15 and 18, will be conducted by Yoel Gamzou.
Joining him on stage in the Calixto Bieito production will be Ryan Speedo Green as Don Fernando, Tomasz Konieczny as Don Pizarro, Camilla Nylund as Leonore, René Pape as Rocco and Mirjam Mesak as Marzelline.
