‘La bohème’ at The Metropolitan Opera
Matthew Polenzani returns to The Metropolitan Opera on January 11, 15, 18, 22, and 25 for Puccini’s romantic masterpiece, La bohème. A familiar face to Met audiences, Polenzani previously bowed as Rodolfo in 2023 and 2019, and has sung the role to great acclaim elsewhere, including the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Bayerische Staatsoper, Royal Ballet and Opera, and Teatro Massimo di Palermo. The New York Times has praised his interpretation of the role, saying, “Mr. Polenzani, ardent and impetuous as Rodolfo, summoned Italianate colorings and ringing top notes, while singing with subtlety and rhythmic punch.”
Kensho Watanabe (January 11, 15, and 18) and Yannick Nézet-Séguin (January 22 and 25) lead Franco Zeffirelli’s beloved production. Eleonora Buratto sings Roldofo’s beloved Mimì, with Adela Zaharia as the fiery Musetta and David Bizic as the painter Marcello.
