‘Der Rosenkavalier’ Grammy nominated for “Best Opera Recording”

Decca Classics’ DVD recording of Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier at the Metropolitan Opera has been nominated for a Grammy in the category of “Best Opera Recording”. Featuring Matthew Polenzani as the Italian Singer, the highly acclaimed DVD marks Renée Fleming’s farewell to her signature role as the Marschallin and Elīna Garanča’s final performance in the trouser role of Octavian.

Robert Carsen’s new staging updates the setting to Vienna in 1911, the year of the opera’s premiere. The performance is conducted by Sebastian Weigle. Produced by David Frost. Polenzani shares the nomination with esteemed colleagues including Günther Groissböck, Erin Morley, and Markus Brück. You can purchase the DVD recording via Matthew’s Recordings.
