House debut in ‘La Traviata’ at Canadian Opera Company

This spring, Matthew Polenzani makes his highly anticipated debut at Canadian Opera Company as Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata. Hailed previously for his portrayals in this renowned signature role, The New York Times acclaimed Polenzani’s “emotional Alfredo, his lovely voice strong and supple and his graceful phrasing laudable in his passionate rendition of ‘De’ miei bollenti spiriti.’” One of Verdi’s most celebrated and popular operas, Arin Arbus’ acclaimed production brings 1850s Paris to lavish life with spectacular party scenes, gorgeous period costumes, and genuine moments of love and heartbreak.

Performances take place on April 23, May 1, 3, 7, 12, 18, & 20. Mr. Polenzani shares the stage with a fantastic cast, including Amina Edris as Violetta,  Simone Piazzola as Giorgio Germont, Jamie Groote as Flora Bervoix, Jonah Spungin as Marquis d’Obigny, Gregory Dahl as Baron Duphol, Adam Luther as Gastone, Midori Marsh as Annina, and Vartan Gabrielian as Dr. Grenvil. Johannes Debus conducts the COC Orchestra and Chorus.
