Matthew Polenzani honored with 2017 Opera News Award

Matthew Polenzani has been named a recipient of a 2017 Opera News Award, to be presented at a black tie Gala celebration in New York City on April 9. Mr. Polenzani receives this accolade in recognition for his tremendous artistry and wide range of repertoire. From Opera News’ Associate Editor Maria Mazzaro: “The silky, sweetly spun lyricism of Matthew Polenzani’s tenor conveys all the emotion, passion and beauty possible in the music he sings—whatever the language or style. He is a master of the classicism of Mozart, the passion of bel canto and the romanticism of French repertoire.”

Fellow 2017 award-winners include stage director Robert Carsen, soprano Christine Goerke, conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade. To read more about the Award, and for updates on the Gala on April 9, visit Opera News online.
