Summer Performances with Great American Orchestras

Matthew Polenzani is a featured soloist with two of America’s most acclaimed orchestras this month; he performs with both the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra in varied programmes spanning repertoire from Haydn to romantic favorites from the operatic canon. Mr. Polenzani  , with soprano Nadine Sierra and bass John Relyea, sings Haydn’s The Creation with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Maestro James Levine on August 8  at the Ravinia Festival Pavilion. This marks yet another engaging musical collaboration between Maestro Levine and Mr. Polenzani, including their recent triumph of Idomeneo at The Metropolitan Opera.

Polenzani then joins the Philadelphia Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, in a sparkling evening of operatic favorites at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on August 19. The programme, titled “A Night at the Opera” also includes soprano Susanna Phillips and mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard. Tickets and more info are available via SPAC.org.
