Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflöte’ at Lyric Opera of Chicago

Matthew Polenzani stars as Tamino, a role for which he has been lauded for his “sweet tenor voice and wholesome appeal” (New York Times), in Mozart’s ever-popular Die Zauberflöte, launching the new year at Lyric Opera of Chicago. Performances take place January 12, 14, 17, 22, 25 & 27, with Christiane Karg as Pamina, Kathryn Lewek as the Queen of the Night, Adam Plachetka sings Papageno, and Christof Fischesser is Sarastro. Rory Macddonald leads the Lyric Opera Orchestra for all dates, which feature an inventive new production directed by Neil Armfeld.
