Verdi in Philadelphia and Puccini in Aspen

On August 14, Matthew Polenzani joins conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin and The Philadelphia Orchestra for Verdi’s powerful Requiem at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Polenzani appears alongside an esteemed roster of soloists, including soprano Ailyn Pérez, mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, and bass-baritone Alfred Walker, with Albany Pro Musica acting as chorus. Polenzani’s 2021 performance of the Requiem was nationally televised as part of “Great Performances” on PBS.

He then returns to the Aspen Music Festival on August 19 to star as Rodolfo in a semi-staged production of Puccini’s La Bohème, conducted by Enrique Mazzola. The cast will be made up of tomorrow’s opera luminaries from the Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS program.
