‘The Magic Flute’ – Holiday Presentation at the Metropolitan Opera

Matthew Polenzani will return to the Metropolitan Opera to star as Tamino in their holiday presentation of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. The Met’s abridged, English-language version of Mozart’s magical fairy tale is a classic holiday treat for audiences of all ages. Tony Award-winning theater artist Julie Taymor brings Mozart’s music to life with an imaginative production that fills the Met stage with fantastical creatures. Jane Glover conducts.

On December 10, 14, 18, 21, 23, 27, 29, and January 5, Polenzani shares the stage with a star-studded cast, including Hera Hyesang Park in her Met role debut as Pamina, Rolando Villazón in his Met role debut as Papageno, Kathryn Lewek as Queen of the Night, Morris Robinson as Sarastro, Patrick Carfizzi as the Speaker, and Rodell Rosel as Monostatos. On December 11, the Met will broadcast its Live in HD Encore of The Magic Flute as a special holiday encore presentation.
