‘Der Rosenkavalier’ & ‘Don Giovanni’ at The Met
Following his critically-acclaimed success in the title role of Mozart’s Idomeneo at The Metropolitan Opera, Matthew Polenzani continues at The Met this spring in two roles. He stars as the Italian Singer in a new Robert Carsen-directed production of Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier which opens on April 13 and continues on through May 13 (the final performance can also be enjoyed Live in HD – find your cinema here). The all-star cast also includes Renée Fleming as the Marschallin, Elīna Garanča is Octavian, and Erin Morley and Kathleen Kim alternate as Sophie, and Günther Groissböck is Baron Ochs. Sebastian Weigle leads the Met Opera Orchestra for all dates.

On April 26 & 29 and May 3, 6 & 11, Mr. Polenzani sings Don Ottavio in the Michael Grandage production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. The staging, set in mid-18th century Seville, boasts an extraordinary international roster of colleagues which includes Mariusz Kwiecień in the title role, Angela Meade as Donna Anna, Marina Rebeka as Donna Elvira, and Erwin Schrott sings Leporello.
